chatShepherds on the Green a Resounding Success

Following the inaugural edition in 2016, the Radio Veritas Warriors together with Radio Veritas South Africa hosted their second annual “Shepherds on the Green” for priests from around the country on Monday the 27th of November 2017.

soccerThe Benoni Country Club played host to more than 120 priests from around the country in an event organised by local community radio station, Radio Veritas South Africa. The facility was prepared exclusively for the enjoyment of the Shepherds of the Catholic Church for the day.

The special day started out with a nutritious five-star breakfast provided by the country club, followed by the different sports and activities. The priests were able to partake in soccer games, cycling, golf, tennis, bowls, squash and a variety of board games.

Throughout the day, the priests were treated to massages, haircuts and general health check-ups by the Catholic Nurses Guild. Following the activity-packed day, the priests freshened up for the gala dinner. They were treated to a scrumptious three-course meal with entertainment and they were also thanked for their service to the community.

kickRadio Veritas Executive Director Fr. Emil Blaser OP said “The Shepherds on the Green event was a resounding success once more and I hope to see more priests attending the event next year”

This event was organised to show our priests the appreciation that they so often do not get for the work that they do for the church as well as their respective communities. Radio Veritas, as well as the Radio Veritas Warriors, are extremely proud of the way the event turned out.

The Shepherds On the Green is back, bigger and better!

After the resounding success of the inaugural edition in 2016, Priests from all around the Country can once again have a day of fun and relaxation at the Radio Veritas Shepherds On the Green at the Benoni Country Club on Monday, 27 November – and you are requested to make it possible for the Priests you love.
shepherds5Games, pampering, merriment, prayer and a chance to relax await Priests. Parishioners are requested to buy tickets for their Parish Priests and for those Priests who are not in parishes.
The Benoni Country Club is a world-class facility in Ekurhuleni (Johannesburg Archdiocese) in Gauteng and it will be prepared for the exclusive enjoyment of shepherds of the church.
The day will kick off early with a lavish breakfast laid out for the visitors, following which they could take to the Country Club’s scenic trail for cycling, walking and/or running. Golf, soccer, tennis, bowls, squash and a variety of board and table games will also be on offer.
Catholic men’s volunteer group, the Radio Veritas Warriors, organises the Shepherds On The Green, and warrior Boycie Ntlwane encourages the faithful to show their appreciation of their pastors by buying them tickets.
“Our Priests dedicate their lives to us with love and this fun day is one way we could reciprocate that love,” said Ntlwane.
“We would like to have Champions in all parishes around the Country who will ensure that no Priest or Bishop is left out, they will see to it that all Priests from Botswana to Swaziland and Durban; Limpopo to the Cape have a ticket and will be joining the fun.”
